PFO launched the OTDR600 at OFC2022
During the OFC 2022 exhibition at San Diego, USA, PFO unveiled the prototype of our new OTDR instrument for measuring the attenuation along the length of a fiber. In the OTDR, the attenuation of the signal in the fiber is measured as a function of length rather than the wavelength of the useable spectrum of the fiber.
Splicing and joining can affect the attenuation of a fiber, especially where it is joined several times over its length. Bending is also a factor that can damage or attenuate the fiber. Since the fiber losses are measured over its length, the location of any attenuation can be determined – which is a valuable tool in rectifying an issue with a joint or connector in the optical path.
Visitors to OFC were excited to see this new product and many enquiries were collected at the show.
